The Finer Points, LLC is an award-winning boutique event planning and design company specializing in weddings with over 20+ years of experience in hospitality and event etiquette. The Finer Points use their intimate knowledge of the industry and unrivaled attention to detail to ensure their client’s visions comes to life!
Lynn and Laura merged their knowledge of the event and hospitality industry and began working together in Spring of 2014 creating, planning and designing beautiful events for their clients and became partners officially in Fall of 2019. The Finer Points has been recognized multiple times in The Knot as “Pick for Best Wedding”, Wedding Wire “Couples’ Choice Award”. In 2020, The Finer Points was honored to be voted “Loudoun’s Favorite” in Loudoun Now and awarded Washingtonian Weddings “Top Vote Getter” in 2019-2022. The Finer Points pride themselves on listening to the needs of their clients and what is most important to them.
In 2020, Lynn and Laura took The Finer Points to the coast! They expanded their business and created The Finer Points Coastal, LLC bringing their fun style and creative ideas to the Outer Banks, North Carolina area. Laura and Lynn are known for their calming personalities. Together with their knowledgeable team of talented planners, they help their clients navigate the planning process and design a one-of-a-kind event. “It’s all in the details…it’s in The Finer Points!”

Victoria Brooks joined The Finer Points Coastal in 2020. Tori was born and raised on the east coastal and a native to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. She has a passion for events and loves the beauty in coastal weddings. Victoria has a strong background in marketing and is a certified International Event and Wedding Professional (IEWP) and Certified Event Designer (CED) through QC Event School awarded by the International Live Events Association; as well as a Notary Public for North Carolina. Victoria is Director of Events for The Finer Points Coastal and assisting-owner of “The Event Boutique” in Historic Corolla Village, NC which is a family-owned retail entertaining and event decor store that is also an inspirational space and planning location for The Finer Points Coastal team. Victoria is Director of National and Regional Conferences and Conventions for Organization Management Group. She is a member of the Outer Banks Wedding Association and Currituck Chamber of Commerce. She uses her knowledge of the coastal area and trusted relationships with local vendors to create beautiful and memorable events. Victoria’s creative eye and talented ability as well as attention to detail helps her make client's wedding visions come to life. Clients have commented on Victoria’s “professionalism, southern courtesy and ability to direct an event in complete organization with a calm disposition”. Victoria and her family have 4 dogs; Talon, a Belgian Malinois, Argo, a German Shepherd, Kenna, a German Shepherd and Odin, a Belgian Malinois. Victoria is the wife to her high school sweetheart, and they have 2 young children. Victoria is a wonderful leader for The Finer Coastal Team!

Lynn began The Finer Points, LLC after several years of planning experience working at Marriott and Lansdowne Resort in the Catering Sales Department as a Senior Catering Manager. This experience has been tremendously valuable to her, as she understands events on the venue side and understands her client’s needs and how to best achieve them! She has also met many amazing vendors over her 20+ years in the business which is an invaluable asset to her clients. Lynn has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from John Carroll University, and a certification in Event Management from George Washington University. She attended the first year Event Management Certification program offered at George Washington University, which was an excellent experience, where she worked helping with Make-a-Wish Foundation. Lynn has a love for Outer Banks of North Carolina and the natural beauty of Coastal Weddings. She has an ever calming and collected demeaner which carries throughout the planning process and helps maintain a stress-free experience for her clients. She is a loving wife and mother of 2 teenage children and has a natural ability to make others feel they are being taken care of in the planning process.

Laura Billak began The Finer Points Coastal, LLC and has a special place in her heart for the Outer Banks of North Carolina, owning a home in the beautiful Corolla area of Currituck County. Laura has a strong background in Etiquette and Protocol in the field of Events and Hospitality. After obtaining a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Relations and Communications with a minor in Art Design from George Mason University, she continued on and received a Masters in Event Management from the International Institute of Event Management. After years of working as Director of Human Resources and Public Relations, she began applying her knowledge to corporate event planning, which further extended into formal social events and wedding planning. Laura has also obtained certification from the International School of Protocol in the areas of Social Etiquette, Communications Etiquette and Dining Etiquette in both American and Continental Protocol and is the founder of the etiquette consulting company P’s and Q’s®, with material she created and patented in 2005. Laura has more than 20+ years of event planning experience and uses her background and creativity to help make every client's particular vision come to life. Laura's work has been recognized in several local and state publications and she is known for being kind, detail oriented and having a calm reassuring nature for her clients. Laura is a loving wife and mother of 3 children and firmly believes that through the thoughtful consideration of others, we all can harness the key to a happy life.

Lisa joined The Finer Points with five years of experience working on the banquet service side of events. This gives her a true understanding and perspective of our events. Lisa holds a Master's Degree in Finance from Wilkes University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bloomsburg University. She uses her skills in accounting and finance to help brides plan the wedding of their dreams, within their personal budget. Lisa enjoys working with each couple to plan a fun and stress-free day for them and their families. She is friendly, warm and an amazing team player!

Nicole joined The Finer Points team in 2021 as a Junior Event Planner. She is a graduate of High Point University in North Carolina in May of 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Event Management minoring in Social Media Marketing. Nicole has always had a passion for events. She takes pride in the multiple events that she has planned over her time at High Point University and is known for having an eye for design. In her spare time, she loves to watch movies with her family, shop and spend time with her 3 dogs. Nicole is an asset to the Finer Points Team!

Jordyn joined The Finer Points team in 2021 as a Junior Event Planner. She is obtaining a Bachelor of Science Degree from East Carolina University in North Carolina, majoring in Hospitality Management and minoring in Business Administration. She is an Officer in Eta Sigma Delta, the International Hospitality Management Honor Society. Jordyn is excited to begin her career in the field of hospitality and event planning and is an asset to The Finer Points Team. Jordyn enjoys music and travel and has a keen eye for fashion. Lynn has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a concentration in Human Resource Management from John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio, and is a Certified Special Events Professional (CSEP) from George Washington University. She attended the first year Event Management Certification program offered at George Washington University, which was an excellent experience, where she interned with Creative Parties in Bethesda on a benefit for Make-a-Wish Foundation. The Finer Points Event Planning and Design has their office studio in Historic Leesburg, VA. Lynn is on the Visit Loudoun Wedding Advisory Board, as well as a member of Hunt Country Celebrations. She recently became a Certified Tourism Ambassador which only strengthens her knowledge of Loudoun County and tourism in the DC Metropolitan area in general. Lynn has an ever calming and collected demeanor which carries throughout the planning process and helps maintain a stress-free experience for her clients. Lynn is a loving wife to her high school sweetheart and mother of two college age children. In her free time, there is no place she’d rather be than on the field, watching her daughter play field hockey and son play baseball! Lynn enjoys cooking, yoga, Zumba, and taking long walks with her friends. She loves her sweet pups, Roxy and Riley. Roxy is a 13-year-old German Shepherd and Riley is a 5-year-old Samoyed. The idea to get a Samoyed was inspired when Lynn and her daughter fell in love with a Samoyed after seeing him take part in her client’s wedding. She brings Riley to some of her appointments in the studio so if you are a dog-lover please ask her to bring him along on your next appointment!

She is known for being “kind, detail oriented, creative and having a calm reassuring nature for her clients”. Laura is married to her high school sweetheart, mother to 3 children and her fur baby, an English Black Lab named “Sadie”. She loves decorating, walking on the beach and relaxing to upbeat reruns of “Three’s Company”. She firmly believes that through the thoughtful consideration of others, we all can harness the key to a happy life.

Lisa Mowery joined The Finer Points in 2015 with experience working on the banquet service industry. This gave her a true understanding and perspective of the operational side of events. Lisa earned a Master’s Degree in Finance from Wilkes University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bloomsburg University. She is a Certified Treasury Professional (CPT) and uses her skills in accounting and finance to help brides plan the wedding of their dreams, within their personal budget. Lisa is a Notary Public for the Commonwealth of Virginia. Lisa enjoys working with each couple to plan a fun and stress-free day for them and their families. Lisa is a travel sports mom of 2 children, lover of animals, yoga and is a Black Belt in Taekwondo. Nicole Dukas joined The Finer Points team in 2020 and has specialized in day of details and perfecting the art of a smooth planning process for our couples and works to help create their dream wedding day. Nicole obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Event Management and minored in Social Media Marketing from High Point University where her love for event planning became her passion. Nicole has an Alcohol Beverage Control Certification (ABCC). She has been told she has an eye for design and the ability to keep up with the latest trends for all things wedding related. She is a people person and loves the uniqueness that comes with every wedding. Clients describe her as “having a calm and positive energy”. Nicole has a love for all animals and stays actively part of a team that rescues lost animals in the northern VA area. Nicole specifically loves dogs. Her dog is a mixed breed rescue who is 4 years old named “Kinzie”. She loves attending cycling class and traveling with her family any chance she can. Nicole is an asset to The Finer Points team.

Rachel Neimeier graduated with a B.A. in Communications from Penn State University. She has always loved anything creative. She worked at the Virgin Record Store in Times Square and interned for Martha Stewart, living in New York City on two separate occasions. She started her career on the film side of the business planning events for David Lynch and assisted producers with the Oprah Winfrey show selecting the audience of super fans for her final season. She transitioned into corporate events and worked on both small and large scale events including NATO Summits and Presidential Inaugural Balls. She has worked in corporate events for over a decade in a myriad of industries from private jets to printing; managing competing deadlines and all of the details that go into a successful event. She also has experience planning international events, having planned events in both Asia and Europe. Rachel is well traveled having visited 21 countries. Rachel planned her own at home wedding during the COVID-19 pandemic. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling (both internationally and domestically), spending time with her family and their two dogs, Sophia Loren and new puppy Vivien Leigh (Vivi). She is certified in Exhibition Management (CEM). Rachel also volunteers as a business mentor for Empowered Women International for women who face economic and social challenges by seeking to empower them through entrepreneurship and workforce training. She assists with reviewing budgets, business plans, marketing and strategy as these entrepreneurs prepare to launch their business or take it to the next level. She was awarded the title of Rising Star by Smart Meetings Magazine in 2019. She has been described by clients as having “a vibrant personality that seems at times can’t be phased”. Last minute changes are not a challenge for her. She is known to have the ability to manage several details at once. Her experience in both sales and operations allows her to be a voice of reason and confidant for any bride and their family. Rachel is an asset to The Finer Points team!
